Chablis Grand Cru “Moutonne” 2001

Another mixed bag of news in the last couple of weeks.  I spent several hours in hospital but not as many as Mrs Wino who suffered another miscarriage.  On a much more positive note, Man City completed a glorious double over some lowly team from Stretford.  Throw into the mix a really busy time at work and I almost missed Confessions of a Wino’s first birthday.

Don’t be sheepish - try Moutonne.

I am not sure whether I expected to still be writing one year on.  I only set up the weblog as a practice for a rather more sober one, but unsurprisingly, this became my favourite and benefits from more regular updates these days.

So to cheer one year of writing 182 confessions, I opened a nice Grand Cru Chablis from Albert Bichot – Domaine Long-Depaquit “Moutonne”.

Apricot, kiwi, leaf mould and surprisingly, gooseberry gave way to later lime influences.

If you can seek this out it’s worth a try but expect to pay a fair whack for it.  My wallet was about 30 quid lighter if I recall.  At the time of writing Hot Wines had it for £34.49.  That’s quite a lot more than I usually spend on a bottle of wine……

Thanks to everyone who has commented on, linked to, or simply read Confessions of a Wino in its first year.  I hope now and again it makes you smile.
